Johanna took this photo as part of a self-portraiture class. It is layered with the synopsis from her first completed novel.

Johanna Harness is a writer of novels and stories about middle grade and young adult characters.  She is a lifelong resident of Idaho and all her writing is influenced by her placement in the world.

Johanna graduated from The College of Idaho with a double major in English and Psychology.  She received an M.A. in literature from Washington State University and an M.Ed. from Lesley University.

Before taking up writing as a full-time venture, Johanna taught English courses at both Washington State University and Lewis-Clark State College.

She writes early every morning, shifts to homeschooling priorities during the day, and then moves back to writing in the late afternoon. In addition to writing and teaching, Johanna enjoys photography, knitting, raising sheep, and exploring areas off the beaten path.  She always enjoys a good laugh.

Johanna is represented by The Carolyn Swayze Agency and her first novel, Claire Morgane Almost Saves The World, is currently out on sub to publishers.
